Digital Nomads
Digital nomads are people whose jobs allow them to work remotely and change residence frequently, making highly qualified jobs compatible with immersive tourism in the country of residence.
Work Activity
If carrying out a work activity, holders of an international teleworking permit can only work for companies located outside the country.
In the case of carrying out a professional activity (as a self-employed person or freelancer), holders of an international teleworking permit will be allowed to work for a company located in Spain, rovided that the percentage of such work does not exceed 20% of their total professional activity.
Such remote work or professional activity is carried out exclusively through the use of computers, telematics, and telecommunications systems and media.
Visa
Qualified professionals who can prove they are graduates or postgraduates from universities, vocational training centers, and business schools, or who have at least three years of professional experience may apply for a visa or teleworking permit.
Foreigners not residing in Spain who intend to reside in Spain in this way must apply for an international teleworking visa, which will be valid for a maximum of one year, unless the work period is shorter, in which case the visa will be valid for the same period. An international teleworking visa will be sufficient authorization to reside and work remotely in Spain for the duration of its validity.
Foreigners who are in Spain legally or who have entered the country using the visa mentioned above may apply for a residence permit to telework remotely for a company located abroad, which will be valid throughout the country. This permit will be valid for a maximum period of three years, unless it is requested for a shorter work period.
Holders of this authorization may request its renewal for two-year periods as long as the conditions that generated the right are maintained.
