Less than three months residency
In case the stay in Spain of a citizen of a Member State of the European Union, of another State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, or the Swiss Confederation, for any purpose, is less than three months, possession of a valid passport or identity document, by virtue of which entry into Spanish territory was made, will suffice.
The above also applies to family members of citizens of a Member State of the European Union or of another State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, who are not nationals of one of these States, and who accompany or meet with a citizen of these states, who are in possession of a valid passport, and who have met the entry requirements.
Residence for more than three months
Citizens of a member State of the European Union, another State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, or the Swiss Confederation have the right to residence in Spain for a period of more than three months.
Those interested must apply in person to the Immigration Office of the province where they intend to remain or establish residence, or failing that, to the corresponding Police Station, for registration in the Central Registry of Foreigners.
This application must be submitted within three months of the date of entry into Spain, and a registration certificate will be issued immediately.
